2nd Joint Symposium on Nanotechnology

The Fraunhofer Nanotechnology Alliance is organizing the 2nd Joint Symposium on Nanotechnology together with the
German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment BfR at the Hannover Medical School in Hannover (Germany).
The integration of nanomaterials along the entire value chain creates new challenges and requires innovative approaches in terms of design, testability, reliability, and safety. Within the scope of this two-day event, the status quo of nanomaterials in research, application, and regulation will be presented. The toxicology of inhaled nanomaterials will be one of the focal topics. New developments and issues of sustainability and resource efficiency of nanotechnology including emerging nanomaterials will be addressed. For a limited number of participants, there will be a possibility to get insight into ongoing nanomaterial inhalation experiments at the nearby Fraunhofer ITEM facilities.

Thursday, April 6,
10:45-11:15 When size matters: Effects and properties of nanomaterials
Dr. Karl-Heinz Haas, Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC
