Materials Analysis / Materials Testing

The Fraunhofer ISC, with its sites at Würzburg, Bronnbach, Bayreuth, Hanau and Alzenau, has a maximum of characterization, analysis and testing tools at its disposal and therefore is in the position to select the best suitable measuring method for any analysis task. The central point of contact for analysis-related matters is the Würzburg-based Center for Applied Analytics. Upon review, inquiries are forwarded to the expert in charge of just the problem at hand. The Center for Applied Analytics is an accredited test laboratory and certified to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, the Center for High-Temperature Materials and Design is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001.

  • Optical measurements (voltage, transmission, reflection, absorption)
  • Scanning electron microscope analysis (with microlab) to determine properties on the microscale (e.g. electrical conductivity)
  • Battery testing
  • Testing of magnetic properties (PPMS, VSM, Kerr microscope)
  • Materials testing under various climate conditions, including use of thermooptical measuring devices (e.g. Klima-TOM)
  • Cell-based assays – test environments for the analysis and evaluation of active drug substances
  • Determination of thermal properties (thermal extension, glass transition etc.)
